David Wamira and his siblings, Beryl and Rael are looking forward to podium finishes in the upcoming 2022 deaflympics summer games in the city of Caxias do Sul in Brazil.

David and Beryl will be making their second appearance at the deaflympics, the first one being the 2013 event in Sofia, Bulgaria, where David won bronze in the men’s 200m while Beryl won gold in 200m.

During the 2021 World Deaf Athletics Championships the siblings all finished outside the medal brackets with David after competing in both 100m and 200m while Beryl won silver in 200m after missing out in the 100m medal bracket.

‘’ Last year the weather in Poland was quite unfavourable because it was raining a lot and also the government had only given us one week in camp which wasn’t enough for training, but with all the hard work we have put in I believe I will get a medal in 200m because I believe in God.’’ David Wamira while speaking to Picture Africa.

The Deaflympic Games games are set for May 1-15 in the Brazilian coastal city of Caxias do Sul
