FKFPL side Gor Mahia have today unveiled a sponsorship deal with gaming firm betafriq, the club will get 70 million a season an amount that is set to increase with each season.
Speaking after the event the clubs assistant coach Michael Nam has revealed that the club will start its season preparations come monday the 18th July 2022 at the Camp Toyoyo grounds.
“Am thankful for betafriq to come onboard and when a new sponsor comes on board there are a lot of expectations, and right now we need to stabilise the team especially after losing the sponsors from last season. It has been up and down for the players as most of them went out of focus.”
“Right now our main focus is to be champions next season, and preparations have to start early,” added Nam.
Gor Mahia which is serving a ban against registering new players will rely on their youth team to feed them players to bolster their squad.
On coaching the seasoned tactician who has been with different sides praised his former head coach Andre Spiers, noting that Spiers helped transform the team in short while with little resources.
“Spiers was a good coach and how I wish the club could have retained him, he understood the players and helped the club transform. Personally I learnt a lot from Spiers, he is a technical director with a good understanding of the game.”
However the coach also expressed his displeasure with the confusion that is currently being witnessed at the helm of football leadership, terming it as an hindrance to his sides preparations.
“As a club we had planned to organise some friendly games for the players but right now it’s hard to do that because we do not know when the season is starting as there are still a lot of problems with the kick off date.”
