Variable sunbird

Description

The Variable Sunbird is a beautiful African bird admired for its slender, curved bill, delicate body, and striking variations in plumage. The male often displays glossy, iridescent colours that shimmer in the sunlight, while the female typically has more subdued brownish-grey tones that provide natural camouflage. Commonly found in gardens, woodlands, forest edges, and areas rich in flowering plants, this energetic bird feeds mainly on nectar, occasionally catching small insects to supplement its diet. Its swift movements between blossoms and ability to hover briefly while feeding make it a fascinating subject for wildlife photography. The Variable Sunbird captures the vibrant beauty of Africa’s birdlife, adding colour and movement to the natural landscapes it inhabits.
