Sports Journalists Association of Kenya and Special Olympics Kenya will launch a peace sensitisation initiative aimed at promoting tolerance as the country heads into general elections in August.
The initiative will see the two entities organise a pre-elections peace law enforcement torch run that will visit seven counties starting in Nairobi and ending in Mombasa.
“Let’s have a peaceful election no matter our political differences. That’s why the Special Olympics Kenya is joining hands with the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya to let everyone know that peace is important,” Special Olympics Kenya head Vincent Mungai said.
The torch run will happen towards the end of April and early May in, and will be held in conjunction with the National Police Service.
Meanwhile, the Special Olympic Kenya celebrated the International Day for Sports for Development and Peace with other member federations at the University Of Nairobi grounds yesterday.
